Epigenomics workshop
Dr. David Gorkin
HKUST
Dec 16-19, 2019
Dr. David Gorkin is the Associate Director of Epigenomics at the UCSD Center for Epigenomics, and his research focuses on new bioinformatics approaches to analyze chromatin structural variation.
The workshop:
Navigating with epigenome maps: Profiling the epigenome at high-throughput and at single-cell resolution
Monday Dec 16th
Session 1 (1.5 hrs): Epigenetic mechanisms of gene regulation (part 1)
A general introduction to epigenetics, focusing on gene regulation and cellular identity.
Tuesday Dec 17th
Session 2 (1.5 hrs): Epigenetic mechanisms of gene regulation (part 2)
A more detailed look at epigenetic molecular mechanisms. highlighting DNA Methylation, chromatin state, chromatin structure.
Wednesday Dec 18th
Session 3 (1.5 hrs): Single Cell Epigenomics
An overview of single cell epigenomic methods and data analysis, with a more detailed examination of single-cell ATAC-seq.
Thursday Dec 19th
Session 4 (1.5 hrs): A primer on NGS and epigenomics bioinformatics
A discussion of standard of workflows and file formats, targeted at trainees with little-to-no bioinformatics experience.
Dr. Gorkin has shared his slides from the workshop:
